All rigging equipment comes with its risks, but generally Lifting Magnets are considered safe otherwise they would not be allowed for sale on the US market. Common injuries that occur when operating Lifting Magnets include crushed, pinched or trapped fingers, by wearing gloves and following the safe operating instructions you can remain completely safe when operating your magnet.
