Drill Lines are multi-threaded twisted wire ropes that are reeved 6-12 times between the Crown Block and Traveling Block of an Oil Drill Rig to enable the controlled lifting and lowering of the heavy drill string that travels in and out of the wellbore. The Drill Line is extremely strong and generally at least 1000ft long which enables the worn part to be replaced by the additional length available which is stored right next to the drill on a Drill Line Stand or Spool- when the current length being used is worn it can be pulled out and cut whilst the fresh new line pulled in.

LES USA supply Drill Lines in all sizes from the leading domestic and international manufacturers available with full mill certificates available. Typical construction is 6x19 IWRC, 6x26WS RRL IWRC, 6x19S RRL IWRC or 6x26WS RRL IWRC but we do offer 6x37 where required. the first number (6) meaning 6 outer strands of rope, the second number (the two digit number- 36 for example) dictates the number of wires per strand. Typical sizes are 7/8", 1", 1-1/8", 1-1/4", 1-3/8", 1-1/2", 1-5/8", 1-3/4", 1-7/8" and 2" diameter. All Drill Lines are available with zinc and other specialist coatings to keep dirt and debris out whilst maintaining excellent lubrication and extending service life.

S= Seale, this is great rope for withstanding crushing and abrasion on the drum, however its resistance to fatigue is limited in comparison to others.

WS= Warrington Seale, the 6x36WS construction provides the ultimate drill line for a range of applications, it is abrasion resistant, crush resistant and fatigue resistant

IWRC= Independant Wire Rope Core, offering good crush resistance when spooled

FC= Fiber Core, much more flexability than IWRC, however does not spool as well

Most of our Drill Lines are RRL meaning Right Regular Lay- however we can offer Left Lay on request. Ropes can be terminated plain or with accessories such as open/closed Spelter Sockets.
